Could you tell us about yourself and your work?
Hello, I am Dr. Shwetha Kamath, MBBS graduate, and triplet mom from Mangalore, Karnataka. I am the founder of Anvesham, a store for paintings and crafts. I love painting nature with vivid colours. I set up my paintings and craft store “Anvesham” in 2023. The name “Anvesham” means exploring the new, and it also includes all the initials of my family- Veda, Mantra, shlok (Triplets -5.6 years old) and Annappa (My hubby), who have been my constant support in my life. Painting has always been my passion, as I love colors very much. I have had art exhibitions in the past and sold a few of my paintings as well. I am currently working as a medical manager in a pharma company and have been in the clinical research field for the past 14 years.

How you and your service is helping society ?
I have sold my paintings for raising funds for oral cancer patients. It gives me immense pleasure to know that I could help oral cancer patients by selling my paintings. I am very grateful to god for having gifted me with this talent. I am always seeking an opportunity to put my talent to the benefit of people.

What is the USP of your work?
It has always been my dream to own a boutique for paintings & crafts. I started painting in childhood and during my college years got some formal training from an art school and since then colors have been my solace from my busy schedule of work. It always relaxes me, amazes me when I create something on the canvas and brings immense happiness. This store is set up, so art is affordable for all. Beautiful creations made by artisans are always in demand, but the artisans never get the correct pricing for their work. I would like to promote new emerging talents through my store.

What are your vision and mission?
My vision for the future is to set up an art gallery, where anyone can display their art. I would like to provide a platform for all emerging talents. I have never had many opportunities like this, hence I would like to create opportunities for everyone so that hidden talents can be shared with the larger masses.
Mission: The children are born with immense talent, their imaginations and creativity surpass the boundaries. I would like to train the kids in helping them unleash their creativity.
Art is very healing and art therapy is very useful in healing patients. I would like to create more awareness in this regard.

What are your achievements in this industry?
I have had formal training in art, attended art courses and had art exhibitions. I have sold quite a few paintings as well. I love nature and I initially started with realistic nature and then slowly moved into the abstract style of paintings.
Decoupage is a French art, which developed in 17 th century as a means of decorating bookcases, cabinets and other pieces of furniture. I also do decoupage art and crafts. These make excellent gifts. I have held group art shows in Mangalore and Bangalore. I also had the opportunity to display my artwork at “Chitrasanthe”, an annual art fare held in Bangalore.

Does your work feel tedious to you? If so, how do you stay driven and motivated toward it?
I am a doctor by education and an artist by passion. Art is inbuilt into my genes. Creating any form of art never feels tedious to me. Though there have been times of artist mental block and I have overcome it. I stay motivated by reading about art, surfing the net for various forms of art and learning new skills and new techniques, attending art workshops. Every new form of art excites me and helps me keeps motivated and meeting different skilled artisans helps me too. The knowledge sharing and discussions with various artisans and exhibiting my art in various galleries help me stay motivated to create new forms of abstract art with newer techniques.
