Interviewed by The Success Today – A Digital Webzine.
Could you tell us about you and your work?
Well, I am Dr. Vikas Gupta, and I am an upper Extremity orthopedic specialist based in Delhi. I am the Director and the Head of the Hand to Shoulder Division at Max Super Specialty hospitals Saket and Gurugram. To put my work in a simpler language, you could say I specialize in treating upper extremity injuries and conditions from fingers to shoulders. This includes severe ailments of the Hand, Wrist, Elbow and shoulder as well.
How are you and your service helping society?
See, a majority of people still do not know how disabling upper extremities ailments can be. They fail to realize that sometimes these minor seeming conditions like tennis elbow or frozen shoulder can impair them for life if they do not take treatment at the right time. And this is where I step in. I treat my patients with the latest and most advanced techniques and create awareness among them regarding the limitations of upper body conditions. Apart from this, I teach young surgeons about newer techniques through lectures, conferences, courses
and fellowships so that more specialists can come up in upper limb surgery.
What is the USP of your work?
My experience, dedication and impeccable surgical repair of the most complex of upper-body injuries and conditions are the USP of my work. I have been in this field for more than 3 decades and have always made it a point to provide affordable access to a quality-driven treatment.
What are your Vision and Mission?
My mission has always been to provide my best to my patients by investigating the core of their problems and educating those who serve like me.
My vision, I would say, has always been to innovate and discover treatment techniques that can benefit my patients significantly. And many of my discoveries have become standard medicine practice today.
What are your achievements in this industry?
This is a rather difficult question for me to answer because I have been here for more than 3 decades and
my journey is still ongoing. I have discovered and incorporated several state-of-the-art techniques over
the years and am still at it. Mentioning my achievements in a short paragraph isn’t possible for me. You
can find them at https://www.hand2shoulderclinic.in/.
Does your work ever feel tedious to you? If so, how do you stay driven and motivated towards it?
No, My work never feels tedious to me because it is my passion. But yes there are times when I feel the
need to take life easy, relax a bit and find time to pursue the personal VIKAS that has somehow been lost
under the Specialist Dr. Vikas Gupta. But then I remember my patients, and my drive and motivation come
back with lightning speed.
Maybe when I have done my duty, I will find the time to take a detour.
What are your hobbies and specific interests other than your profession?
I am passionate about Gardening in the little time I have what you can term as free time. My
home has more than 300 plants. And I personally tend to them. More than 80 plants that I planted
and maintained have been given away by me this year under the project “plants for adoption”.
Most of these plants belong to the air purifying variety.
You have achieved so much in life, any specific advice you’d like to share with our readers to
grow in life?
There is a quote by Alan Lakein. I do not know whether you have heard about it or not but it says Time
=Life and therefore a waste of time is a waste of life. So, if you want to achieve something in life don’t
count every hour in the day. Make every hour in the day count. Remember, any key in your bunch can
open the door to success just keep on exploring.
