Aditi Khattar – Founder/Chief Stylist at The Greenish Affair

~Tell us about you and your business with a brief introduction.

We are a group of passionate urban gardeners, interior designers, and landscape architects who create one-of-a-kind “Green Spaces” for your home. We not only assist you in transforming your balconies and terraces into spaces full of life and joy, but we also ensure that they reflect a part of who you are. Whether it’s your furniture or your décor that needs a facelift, we’re here to assist you.

We want to create a rejuvenation space that is both functional and visually appealing.

I previously worked in the field of media communication. I quit my job to pursue my passion. My passion for gardening began as a child. I have extensive experience in space planning and project management from my previous work in communications for architects and designers. The Greenish Affair is the result of my love of gardening and styling spaces. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology as well as a master’s degree in Media Communication and Advertising.

~ What inspired you to begin work on a career in this field?

I am a former media communication expert who thoroughly enjoyed my 7-year career. It became difficult for me to maintain my job after having a child. Gardening and home decorating were two activities that kept me sane after my pregnancy. Although I continued to work from home, I soon realized I wasn’t happy, and I resigned from the job I had always loved. To release the energy, I gradually built my balcony garden and revamped the interior of my home, one room at a time. I began documenting the makeover on Instagram and received a lot of positive feedback. Soon after, a friend asked me to do a balcony makeover for him, and my entrepreneurial journey began in December on his tiny 15 Sq Ft balcony.

I quit my job in January 2020, just before the country went into lockdown, to devote my full time to building my brand. After successfully completing more than 15 projects, I registered my firm in January 2021.

~ What services or products do you offer and how is it beneficial for your customers/clients?

The Greenish Affair offers a full design service for your outdoor spaces. In Delhi, Gurgaon, Faridabad, Pune, Mumbai, and Chandigarh, we have completed balconies, terrace lounges, and landscapes. We also offer online design consultations throughout the country and help people set up their home gardens and outdoor spaces.
Apart from design services, Aditi Khattar conducts several corporate workshops on Urban Gardening and DIYs and has worked with a number of well-known brands such as ITC, Kotak Mahindra, Candor Techspaces, NVIDIA India, and others.
The Greenish Affair also has a curated online decor shop where one can find Garden decor and gardening DIY kits.

~ What are your achievements so far in this industry?

Aditi Khattar’s work has appeared in the Times of India, Mumbai Miday, Ideal Home and Garden, Architect and Interior India, and several other national publications. In 2019, she also co-organized the first Plant Swap event in Delhi.

~ What makes you passionate and motivates you to do your work tirelessly?

This question, in my opinion, is phrased incorrectly! My work is a result of my passion and knowledge.

~ If you had one piece of advice to someone who is about to start their business, what would it be?

The first steps should be market research and determining your strengths and weaknesses. Having a business strategy in place aids in the establishment of a solid foundation for your company. Furthermore, persistence and consistency are the two most important factors that can elevate you to success.
