Could you tell us about yourself and your work?
I am M. Sakshi, a computer engineer who worked in a job for two years but am also creative by nature, as I am a Piscean. I have thought of many projects that could easily run, but they did not satisfy my desires. I always wanted to do something from scratch with my own creativity and passion. To start a new journey, I wanted a partner with the same temperament as me, which is how my friend Anuja and I decided to collaborate. My name is A. Anuja, and I have always been keen to be an entrepreneur since I first learned the term “entrepreneurship” in my school days. Though I come from a management and commerce background and have switched jobs twice, I feel contented only after starting my own company with my longtime buddy, Sakshi. Together, we began our self-care journey in October 2019 with the company name Orrish Era, named after “Lord Krishna,” where we truly believe in the science of Ayurveda. We started with a small workshop in the backyard of Sakshi’s home with approximately 1 lakh from our personal savings. Our startup initially focused on manufacturing organic goat milk-based soaps, and we eventually diversified into a total of seven products to date, including serums, hibiscus hair oil, hair masks, gel-based sanitizer, bath crumbles, and bath salts.100 percent nature-based products are our core strength, and patience is our keyword while taking every next step, whether it is financial or managerial. In any area of our small entrepreneurship, we never let fear and financial limitations decide our outcome. That is why our motto is “Blossom with grace.”
How you and your service is helping society?
We believe that women are the backbone of any economy, and we are strong supporters of women entrepreneurship. We have tried to showcase the beautiful handmade products of many women entrepreneurs through our exhibitions, which are held under the roof of Orrish Era. This is our small effort towards ourselves and towards society.
What is the USP of your work?
Our unique selling proposition is that we never compromise on quality. Additionally, our age segment varies from newborns to older age groups, catering to all genders.
What are your Vision and Mission?
The corrected version is: The vision of the Orrish Era is to make our company self-sufficient in our field and to subsequently offer employment to others for the purpose of diversifying and growing together. Nevertheless, our mission is to distinguish ourselves as one of the top 3 companies in the self-care industry.
What are your achievements in this industry?
We are confident while manufacturing our skin care products, and so are our clients. It is more than an achievement for us when our clients trust us.
Does your work ever feel tedious to you? If so, how do you stay driven and motivated toward it?
We have been running an entrepreneurship for the last 4 years. However, in addition to this, we are also mothers and homemakers, which frequently makes our schedule tedious and challenging. Despite this, we were resolute from the outset that entrepreneurship is a self-motivated and self-driven path that we chose with enthusiasm. We are proud and filled with pride that we are doing something meaningful on our journey of life.
What are your hobbies and specific interests other than your profession?
Undoubtedly, our top priority is to improve our profession at present. However, apart from that, both of us enjoy spending quality time with mutual friends as we share the same social circle.
You have achieved so much in life, any specific advice you’d like to share with our readers to grow in life?
We never thought that we had done or achieved enough to advise someone, as it was just the beginning of our start-up journey until now. However, we both shared a common situation when we joined hands – we started Orrish Era after 11 years of our marriage. We never stopped dreaming during this long span, and the result is Orrish Era. Therefore, your past does not determine how far you will reach in life. Hence, never stop chasing your dreams.
