  1. Tell us a bit about yourself and your business.

I am a medico in the teaching profession. I am working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Anatomy in Swami Rama Himalayan University Jolly Grant Dehradun. Uttarakhand. My father is a retired physics professor and my mother, an educated housewife. My elder brother is an engineer and the younger one is a teacher by profession. My husband is an MBA and my son is preparing to enter the field of Chartered Accountancy.

  1. What inspired you to start a career in this field?

During the days when I chose my career in the medical field, two professions were in the limelight- Engineering or Medical. Socially, doctors stole the utmost respect. Hence, my friends and I decided to make a career in this field.

  1. What have you achieved in this profession so far?

Respect from my students. I consider this as my biggest achievement.

  1. We would like to know about the challenges and hardships that you faced in your journey.

It was my father’s dream to see me as a doctor.
When I was only 9, I had met with an accident that left my lower limb burnt. Though I was able to recover well, cosmetic deformities still persist. The incident sparked in me the thought of becoming self-dependent.

It took me 2 attempts to clear the Medical Entrance Exam since I had no proper guidance. It was also difficult adjusting to the atmosphere in college. I believe those were the most difficult days of my life. After graduating with an MBBS Degree, I struggled hard to get into an MD Programme.

But I believe those struggles and hardships made me strong enough to fight any battle in life.

  1. What is your one piece of advice for achieving success in life?

Success shouldn’t be measured just materialistically.
Don’t lose hope from the fear of failures and make good friendships that last for a lifetime.
