Let’s have a short introduction about you and your business.
A doctor by profession, an artist at heart and an activist for women and children’s rights by choice, this is what defines me as a person. Born in the holy city of Amritsar and brought up in a small town nearby, tarn taran, by a simple, hard-working and extremely loving doctor couple. I always wanted to be a doctor like them and to spread smiles by helping people live a healthy life. After completing my graduation & post-graduation from SGRR Medical College, Dehradun, I pursued MD in pathology and went to UPMC Pittsburgh, USA, and Sequoia Regional Cancer Centre, Hanford, California USA for further specialization and global exposure.
Today, I am married into a family of doctors. I run a US-based lab at Amandeep Group Hospitals where we intend to give affordable yet world-class diagnostic services in India. I am working as General Manager at Amandeep College of Nursing, where we aim to inspire young people and raise the standard of education and professionalism higher. I am grateful to have also been crowned as one of the three winners of Mrs. India 2020-21 pageant and have the opportunity to represent India on the global platform.
What made you start a journey in this industry?
My parents have been my inspiration. Witnessing their empathy, kindness and love, along with an immense feeling of service in them, encouraged me to choose this profession.
I wanted to make a difference in the lives of people, and healthcare provides me with the means to do that. Talking about modelling and pageantry, I have always been an artistic person. Singing and dancing have been my passion, I am a trained Kuchipudi dancer. At heart, I have always looked out to explore that side of my personality and I am glad to have taken that step.
What services or products do you offer and how is it beneficial for your customers/clients?
I am a pathologist and run a US-based lab at Amandeep Group of Hospitals. With a team of specialized doctors, equipped with great know-how of the field and the latest state of art technological facilities, we at Amandeep group offer unmatched health care service in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and J&K. Amandeep Group stands tall as a provider of world-class healthcare in the region and my diagnostic endeavors also help support the same, thus following the footsteps of my parents and in-laws. My central lab is NABL accredited with the highest parameter of standardized diagnostics in the country. Also, as GM of Amandeep College of Nursing, my aim is to empower students through education, exposure and confidence. The focus of the college is to produce students who are overall confident with knowledge in place and exposure on their side. We aspire to bring out expert Nurses, Operation Theatre Technicians, Laboratory Technicians and Critical Care Graduates for the service of humanity.
What are your achievements so far in this industry?
There have been multiple challenges, some failures and achievements in the short span of my career. As a doctor, I am proud to be associated with Amandeep Group. My diagnostic endeavor has given me the confidence to keep on moving further. Serving patients for more than three decades, Amandeep Hospital today is an established entity in the country. When I got married here, I knew I had to set up world-class labs alongside the hospital. Getting the lab NABL certified in the first year itself was a challenge that I loved going through. During the challenging times of COVID-19, we worked relentlessly to serve COVID and non-COVID patients, we were able to set up a COVID facility in the first wave and save countless lives, which we are extremely proud of.
Mrs. India 2020-21 is another beautiful feat that I will always cherish. I have the opportunity to represent our country at Mrs. Universe.
Also, the success of project NAARI- my dream initiative that aims to help women and children get a better life, is indeed my greatest achievement.
I am honored to have gotten the
PILLARS OF MEDICAL SCIENCES 2021- SPECIAL WOMEN ACHIEVER AWARD from Honorable Health Minister Punjab, under Department of Health and Family Welfare -Govt of Punjab.
What makes you passionate and motivates you to do your work tirelessly?
It is the love and support of my family that inspires me to work diligently and to give my 100% in whatever I do. And above everything, I believe that perseverance and faith in myself give me the strength to juggle the different roles that I play. I like to achieve new milestones and this makes me feel alive.
If you had one piece of advice to someone who is about to start their business, what would it be?
Every entrepreneur will have his own journey full of obstacles, challenges and doubt. I would only say that one must be resilient, focused and follow his dreams with dedication and perseverance. Self-doubt must be curbed and one has to be headstrong to achieve their dream once set on the path. Having a loving set of friends and family also makes the ride easier and I have been fortunate to have the same.
