Fear is an unpleasant emotion caused by the threat of danger or harm. Fear is a powerful emotion with a strong effect on your mind and body. Fear and anxiety can last for a short time and then pass, but when this becomes a pattern in our lives, it becomes a problem.

In some cases fear can take over your life, affecting your ability to eat, sleep, concentrate, travel and enjoy life. Fear can hold you back from doing things you want or need to do. It happens often that people become overwhelmed by fear and want to avoid situations that might make them frightened or anxious. There are lots of ways by following one can learn to feel less fearful and to cope with fear.

Tips to overcome your fears:

Know Your Fear: This step is the hardest one, but it’s also absolutely necessary. You can’t overcome a fear about which you are unaware of.

Positive imagination: Imagination gives one power, creativity, and the ability to think outside the box. Use your imagination as a tool to combat fear.

Face your fear: Exposing oneself to fears can be an effective way of overcoming the fears.

Deep Breathing: Fear and anxiety begin with short breaths. Short breaths result in negative reactions to the body. Exhale longer than you inhale. Deep breathing enables the body to physically calm itself.

Use Nature as a Therapist: Nature calms the mind, reduces stress levels and helps in changing the mood from anxious to relaxed.

Exercise: Exercise requires concentration which helps to take your mind off from fear and anxiety.

Relax: Relaxation techniques can help one with the mental and physical feelings of fear.

Eat Healthily: Eat lots of fruit and vegetables as it keeps one active. Avoid too much tea and coffee, as caffeine can increase anxiety levels.
