Interview by The Success Today

Could you tell us about yourself and your work?
I am Sarika Sharma, a Clinical Dietitian and Functional Medicine practitioner with a strong foundation in integrative nutrition and Ayurveda. I am humbled to receive the award for Most Trusted Dietician in my region. Over the years, I have worked with patients suffering from long-standing metabolic, hormonal, gut, autoimmune, and lifestyle disorders — many of whom had tried multiple treatments before finding relief. My work focuses on understanding root cause of disease rather than merely managing symptoms.
I do not believe in “one diet fits all.” Every human body is unique, shaped by genetics, microbiome, lifestyle, stress patterns, and emotional health. I therefore practice highly individualized care, where food is used as a therapeutic tool rather than a restrictive rulebook.
I am to bridge modern functional medicine diagnostics with traditional Ayurvedic wisdom, creating practical, sustainable plans that patients can realistically follow in today’s fast-paced world. My role goes beyond prescribing meal plans. I educate, guide, and empower people to understand their bodies.
I have never relied on aggressive marketing; my work has grown organically through patient outcomes and word-of-mouth. For me, healing is not a profession alone, it is a responsibility and a lifelong learning journey.

How you and your service is helping society?
Today, society is facing an epidemic of lifestyle-driven diseases —autoimmune disorders, diabetes, thyroid disorders, PCOS, gut issues, chronic conditions, and mental burnout , often at very young ages. My work addresses this growing crisis by shifting the focus from temporary symptom control to long-term health restoration.
Through focused consultations and diet therapy programs, I help individuals understand why their body is behaving a certain way and what it truly needs to heal. Many patients come to me after years of dependency on medications; my role is not to oppose modern medicine, but to support the body so that medication dependence can often be reduced under medical guidance.
Beyond individual patients, my work contributes to society by educating families. When one person heals, an entire household’s food habits, mindset, and health awareness change. I also emphasize preventive nutrition , teaching people how to avoid disease before it manifests.
In a time of misinformation, fad diets, and social-media health trends, my service provides clarity, science, and ethics. I believe a healthier society begins with informed individuals who respect their bodies instead of fighting them.

What is the USP of your work?
The foundational blocks of my work are comprehensive root-cause analysis , integrative methods, and highly personalized approach. I do not assess lab reports in isolation; I treat my patients beyond those reports taking entire view on their lifestyle and their personal challenges.
My USP is the seamless integration of functional medicine, clinical nutrition, and Ayurveda, combined with real-life practicality. While many plans look good on paper, they fail in execution. I design protocols that work within a person’s routine, cultural and geo specific food habits, emotional state, and stress levels.
Another defining aspect is my strong emphasis on the gut-microbiome and metabolic health, as these influence immunity, hormones, mood, and chronic disease. I also invest significant time in patient education, because healing is sustainable only when the patient understands the “why” behind the “what.”
Ethics form the backbone of my practice. I am transparent about who truly needs long-term therapy and who does not. I do not over-promise, over-prescribe, or commercialize healing.
In short, my work stands out because it is scientifically sound, emotionally sensitive, ethically driven, and deeply individualized.

What are your Vision and Mission?
My vision is to see a society where people do not wait to fall sick before valuing their health. I envision healthcare shifting from disease management to disease prevention, where nutrition, lifestyle, and mental well-being are considered foundational — not optional.
My mission is to simplify health without oversimplifying the science. I want people to understand their bodies, not fear food, and not live in confusion created by conflicting health advice. Through my work, I aim to empower individuals to take ownership of their health decisions.
I am committed to ethical practice — guiding patients honestly, even when that means telling them they do not diet therapy if they are already on the right path by and large. I also aim to continue educating people about gut health, hormonal balance, and metabolic resilience, especially in women and young adults.
Healing should be humane, informed, and respectful — and that is the standard I strive to uphold every day.

What are your achievements in this industry?
For me, achievements are measured less by awards and more by lives transformed. Over the years, I have helped thousands of individuals across India and globally reverse or significantly improve chronic conditions such as autoimmune conditions, diabetes, thyroid disorders, PCOS, IBS,  and metabolic dysfunctions.
One of my most meaningful achievements is earning deep patient trust without relying on marketing or exaggerated claims. My practice has grown almost entirely through referrals, which reflects consistent outcomes and ethical care.
I have successfully designed structured consultation and diet-therapy systems that balance medical rigor with compassion. Many patients who once felt hopeless and were bedridden now live medication-light, symptom-free, and confident lives.
Additionally, I take pride in being a voice of clarity in an industry crowded with misinformation. Whether through consultations, education, or awareness initiatives, I focus on correcting myths and promoting evidence-based, culturally relevant nutrition.
I have helped people rebuild trust in their bodies and in the healing process itself.

Does your work ever feel tedious to you? If so, how do you stay driven and motivated towards it?
Healthcare, by nature, is emotionally demanding. There are days when the responsibility feels heavy ,especially when dealing with chronic illness, patient anxiety, or delayed compliance. However, my work has never felt meaningless or mechanical.
What keeps me driven is the understanding that healing is rarely linear. Progress may be slow, but even small improvements can significantly change someone’s quality of life. When a patient who once felt helpless regains energy, confidence, or hope, it reinforces my purpose.
I stay motivated by continuous learning. Functional medicine is an evolving field, and staying updated keeps my work intellectually stimulating. I also set clear boundaries to avoid burnout, because a healed healer is essential for healing others. Clear Purpose, not perfection, is what keeps me consistent and passionate.

What are your hobbies and specific interests other than your profession?
Outside my professional life, I am deeply interested in listening to music, singing karaoke on weekends,  reading and watching podcasts on humaman psychology, emotional health, and behavioral patterns. Understanding why people think, react, and cope the way they do helps me not only personally, but also professionally.
I enjoy reading particularly books related to mindfulness, mental resilience, and self-growth. I also value quiet reflection, as it helps me stay grounded in a world that constantly demands speed.
Experimenting with food in a mindful, creative way is another interest of mine. Simple, wholesome cooking brings me peace. Spending time with family is extremely important to me, as it reminds me of the human side of healing. I also enjoy meaningful conversations and learning from real-life experiences of people.
These interests help me remain balanced, empathetic, and emotionallly active directly reflect in my work with patients.

You have achieved so much in life, any specific advice you’d like to share with our readers to grow in life.
My advice would be simple Do not rush success, and do not compromise your health and relationships to achieve it.
There will be phases where effort seems unrewarded, but those phases are building depth, not delay. Stay consistent, stay curious, and keep learning , especially from failures. Surround yourself with people who challenge you to grow, not just applaud you.
Devote 2 hours on average everyday take care of your health- physical, emotional, and mental. Ambition without health eventually becomes exhaustion.
Lastly, define success on your own terms and not on social conditions. When your work aligns with your purpose, motivation becomes natural. A meaningful life is a continuous process— it is built daily, with patience, honesty, and self-respect.
