Interviewed by The Success Today – A Digital Webzine.
Could you tell us about yourself and your work?
I am Suchita Kumar, an early childhood educationist. I have completed my Masters in Sociology and Rural Development, Child Education, and Human Rights courses from TISS, Mumbai, and completed several courses related to child education, health, and psychology, and finally devoted my career to the teaching profession.
Out of my passion for the education field, I created a team of like-minded people, IITians and IIM Alumni, who were willing to work in the field of early childhood education. We work under the banner of “WONDERS KIDS”, mainly in Telangana (Hyderabad). Our strength is a dedicated self-designed curriculum, finely tuned to pre-schoolers’ needs. Our dedication to ECE won us several awards (e.g., Top 50 non-franchised preschools in Asia award by Early Childhood Education, Icon Award, ISO certificate quality, etc.) based on our performances. How you and your service is helping society?
I left my job when my elder son was 6 months old. At that time, I was at the peak of my career. Leaving it all was a combination of happiness and sorrow. I saw many women in the same boat as me, who left their jobs due to a lack of quality child care options and/or family support.
I have always loved children. I was naturally good with them. While growing up too, I used to be surrounded by them, spending my free time playing with them. It occurred to me that, why not make a career out of something I enjoy doing? I wanted to work with children while tending to my child, and I enjoyed making hands-on activities and developing learning materials for children. At the same time, the idea of extending this career option to stay-at-home moms germinated.
I can give motherly care to all the children in our school and daycare so that mothers can go to their jobs without any worry, and kids can also play and learn in a safe, engaging, and happy environment. With this thought, I started school. Slowly, we got a very good response from parents. Through research and studies, we have also learned many things in this field. After 7 years of operating in the sector, we slowly wanted to expand by creating more opportunities for passionate educators—both men and women—who want to start their preschool for kids but, due to a lack of money and experience, are unable to start. We created a mobile application where they can get complete knowledge, like
How do you start and run a profitable school and daycare centre?
How to teach every month using a curriculum planner and worksheets
What else should I teach?
They can get a complete solution to their challenges.
In this way, our services can be used to help society.
What is the USP of your work?
Our in-house curriculum is one of the foremost USPs for us.
What are your vision and mission?
Every child, regardless of where they were born or where they live, has the right to quality education. We want to provide quality education to every child in India, even in the remotest areas.
To provide the world’s most affordable preschool set-up, training and support programme at your fingertips.
What are your achievements in this industry?
We have designed the School Patron mobile App which allows the user to learn “everything about preschool and daycare”, which is the world’s most affordable preschool set-up, training and support programme, at your fingertips.
Does your work ever feel tedious to you? If so, how do you stay driven and motivated towards it?
Balancing home and work is always a challenge for working women. Sometimes I also want to take a week off, but the next day I come back to work because without work I have no identity. I feel bored without work. As a result, I don’t need to be motivated.
What are your hobbies and specific interests other than your profession?
I like gardening, social work, and being involved in some cultural activities as well.
You have achieved so much in life. Any specific advice you’d like to share with our readers to help them grow in life?
Problems always come in everyone’s life. If you focus on problems, they will grow, and if you focus on solutions, you will grow automatically.
