Interview by The Success Today
Could you tell us about yourself and your work?
I am a Child & Adolescent Counselor, Parenting Coach, Special Educator, and the founder of Nanhagyan Foundation. My journey has been deeply rooted in understanding children beyond academics—focusing on their emotional well-being, learning styles, and overall development. Over the past 11+ years, I have worked closely with children, parents, teachers, and institutions to build a more inclusive and emotionally aware ecosystem.
My work spans counseling, remedial education, parenting programs, and teacher training. I specialize in working with neurodiverse children, including those with autism, ADHD, and learning difficulties, helping them build confidence, independence, and life skills. Alongside this, I conduct workshops in schools and corporates, focusing on emotional intelligence, communication, and mindset development.
As a TEDx speaker and author, I also use platforms to spread awareness about conscious parenting and the importance of emotional literacy. For me, this is not just a profession—it is a purpose-driven journey to nurture individuals who are not only successful but also emotionally resilient and self-aware.
How you and your service is helping society?
I believe that a strong society begins with emotionally healthy individuals, and that foundation is built during childhood. Through my work, I aim to bridge the gap between academic success and emotional well-being, which is often overlooked.
At Nanhagyan Foundation, we work extensively with children, especially those who are neurodiverse, ensuring they receive the right support, understanding, and opportunities. We also empower parents with the tools and awareness needed to raise confident and emotionally secure children. Many behavioral and academic challenges stem from a lack of understanding, and by educating parents and teachers, we create a ripple effect of positive change.
Our initiatives, such as inclusion carnivals, awareness programs, and awards for differently-abled achievers, help normalize conversations around special needs and break societal stigmas. Additionally, through leadership and life-skill programs, we prepare young minds to think independently and contribute meaningfully to society.
Ultimately, my service is about creating a more inclusive, empathetic, and aware community—where every child feels seen, heard, and valued.
What is the USP of your work?
The uniqueness of my work lies in its holistic and deeply personalized approach. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all method, especially when it comes to children. Every child has a unique emotional, cognitive, and behavioral profile, and my work focuses on understanding that individuality before designing any intervention.
Another key aspect is the integration of emotional wellness with academics. While many systems focus purely on performance, I emphasize confidence-building, emotional regulation, and self-belief as the foundation for long-term success. My approach combines counseling, remedial strategies, NLP techniques, and practical life skills, creating a balanced development model.
Additionally, I work closely not just with children but with parents and educators as well. This ecosystem-based approach ensures consistency and long-term impact. My sessions are not just about solving immediate issues but about empowering individuals with tools they can use for life.
What truly sets my work apart is the intention behind it—creating transformation, not just results. It’s about helping individuals evolve into their best versions, both emotionally and intellectually.
What are your Vision and Mission?
My vision is to create a world where emotional well-being is given as much importance as academic achievement, and where every child—regardless of their abilities—is accepted, supported, and empowered to thrive.
My mission is to build awareness and provide practical solutions in the areas of parenting, education, and mental health. Through Nanhagyan Foundation, I aim to reach as many families, schools, and communities as possible, helping them understand the importance of emotional intelligence, inclusive education, and conscious parenting.
I also aspire to create platforms where children, especially those with special needs, can showcase their talents and feel valued. Initiatives like NGF Talks and Umeed Awards are steps in that direction, giving them visibility and confidence.
In the long term, I want to contribute to a shift in the education system—where learning is not just about marks, but about mindset, resilience, and self-awareness. My mission is not just to educate but to transform perspectives and create lasting impact.
What are your achievements in this industry?
Over the years, I have been fortunate to receive recognition for my work, but for me, the real achievement lies in the lives I have been able to impact. Working with numerous children—especially neurodiverse learners—and seeing them grow in confidence, independence, and academic ability has been the most fulfilling part of my journey.
Professionally, I have been honored with awards such as the Karmaveer Chakra (Bronze), Bhartiya Shiksha Padma Bhushan Puraskar, and the Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Shiksha Sarvoch Samman. Being recognized among the “100 Inspiring Women of India” and receiving the Women Transforming Nation Award has been deeply humbling.
As a TEDx speaker and author, I have also been able to reach a wider audience and create awareness about parenting and emotional well-being. Founding Nanhagyan Foundation and building impactful initiatives like Umeed Awards and NGF Talks are milestones I take great pride in.
However, beyond awards, my true achievement is the trust families place in me and the transformation they experience.
Does your work ever feel tedious to you? If so, how do you stay driven and motivated towards it?
Like any meaningful journey, there are moments that can feel emotionally demanding, especially when working closely with children and families facing challenges. However, I wouldn’t describe my work as tedious—it is more intense than tiring.
What keeps me motivated is the impact I witness every day. A child overcoming their fears, a parent gaining clarity, or a student believing in themselves for the first time—these moments are incredibly powerful and remind me why I started.
I also focus on continuous learning and self-growth. Whether it’s upgrading my skills, reading, or engaging in mindfulness practices, I ensure that I stay emotionally balanced and aligned with my purpose.
Another important factor is my strong sense of mission. When your work is purpose-driven, motivation comes naturally. Challenges become part of the process rather than obstacles.
For me, it’s not about staying motivated every single day—it’s about staying committed to the bigger vision, and that keeps me going.
What are your hobbies and specific interests other than your profession?
Beyond my professional work, I deeply enjoy activities that help me stay connected with myself and maintain inner balance. Meditation and mindfulness practices are an integral part of my life, as they not only help me stay centered but also enhance my ability to support others effectively.
I also have a strong inclination towards reading and writing, especially in areas related to personal growth, psychology, and parenting. Writing allows me to express my thoughts and share insights that can benefit a larger audience.
Public speaking is not just a profession but also a passion—I enjoy connecting with people, sharing ideas, and inspiring change through conversations. Additionally, I find joy in creative pursuits like storytelling, which I often incorporate into my sessions with children.
Spending quality time with family and engaging in meaningful conversations is something I truly value. These simple yet powerful moments help me recharge and stay grounded.
Overall, my interests align closely with my purpose—growth, learning, and meaningful connection.
You have achieved so much in life, any specific advice you’d like to share with our readers to grow in life.
Growth, in my opinion, begins with self-awareness. Before striving for success externally, it is important to understand yourself—your strengths, limitations, emotions, and patterns. When you become aware, you make better choices.
Secondly, focus on consistency rather than perfection. Many people wait for the “right time” or the “perfect plan,” but growth happens through small, consistent efforts over time.
Another important aspect is emotional resilience. Life will always have challenges, but how you respond to them defines your journey. Learn to manage your emotions, not suppress them. Seek help when needed—it’s a sign of strength, not weakness.
Also, never stop learning. Whether through experiences, people, or books, every situation has something to teach you.
And finally, stay connected to your purpose. When your work aligns with something bigger than yourself, it gives you clarity, direction, and fulfillment.
Success is not just about achievements—it’s about becoming a better version of yourself every day.
