Interview by The Success Today

Could you tell us about yourself and your work?
I am Dr. Ruhi Banerjee, a career coach, mentor, and education leader with over 25 years of experience across diverse roles such as facilitator, coordinator, Headmistress, Director, and Vice President in reputed institutions. My journey began early at 18 and has been shaped by resilience, adaptability, and a deep commitment to growth, especially during my life as an Army officer’s wife where constant transitions became my greatest teachers.
Over time, I realized that traditional education often leaves students academically qualified but directionless. This insight became my turning point. I pursued international certification as a Career Development Professional and dedicated myself to bridging the gap between education and employability.
Today, I work with students, graduates, and professionals, helping them align their strengths with purposeful career paths. As Head of Partnerships & Alliances and founder of The Woman, I also work towards larger ecosystem building
…empowering individuals, especially women, and contributing to the vision of a developed India.
For me, this is not just a profession….it is a purpose-driven mission to create impact through clarity, confidence, and conscious career choices.

How you and your service is helping society?
My work addresses one of the most critical gaps in our society…the disconnect between education and real-world readiness. Every year, millions of students graduate with degrees but lack clarity, direction, and employable skills. Through career coaching and mentoring, I help individuals discover their strengths, understand industry demands, and make informed, intentional career decisions.
This creates a ripple effect. When individuals are aligned with the right careers, they become more productive, confident, and fulfilled. They don’t just seek jobs…they create value. This directly contributes to economic growth and nation-building.
Additionally, through my platform The Woman, I focus on empowering women with financial independence, leadership skills, and self-belief. I strongly believe that when women rise, families, communities, and nations progress.
My association with national missions and global organizations allows me to work at both grassroots and strategic levels…impacting individuals while influencing systems.
Ultimately, my service is about transforming potential into purpose and enabling people to contribute meaningfully to society rather than just exist within it.

What is the USP of your work?
The unique strength of my work lies in its deeply personalized, purpose-driven, and future-focused approach. Unlike traditional career guidance that often relies on generic advice, I integrate scientific career assessments, global frameworks, and real-world industry insights to provide customized pathways for each individual.
My USP is not just helping people choose careers—but helping them understand themselves. I focus on aligning personality, aptitude, interest, and market realities to create sustainable and fulfilling career journeys.
Another distinguishing aspect is my holistic approach. I don’t just guide on careers….I mentor individuals on mindset, confidence, adaptability, and long-term growth. This ensures they are not only career-ready but life-ready.
Additionally, my experience across education leadership, combined with international certification, allows me to bridge academia and industry effectively.
What truly sets my work apart is the intention behind it. It is not transactional…it is transformational. I work not just to place individuals in jobs, but to help them build meaningful careers that contribute to their personal growth and the nation’s progress.

What are your Vision and Mission?
My vision is to see an India where every individual works with purpose, where education is aligned with life, and where careers are chosen consciously rather than accidentally. I envision a nation of empowered individuals who are not just job seekers but innovators, leaders, and contributors to society.
My mission is to bridge the gap between academics and industry readiness by integrating career coaching into the education ecosystem. I aim to guide students, graduates, and professionals towards clarity, confidence, and career alignment based on their true potential.
I am deeply aligned with the vision of a developed India, where human capital is nurtured strategically. Through my work, I strive to create a generation that is skilled, self-aware, and future-ready.
Additionally, empowering women through financial independence and leadership opportunities is a key part of my mission.
In essence, my vision and mission revolve around transforming education into a tool for real growth and enabling individuals to lead purposeful, impactful lives.

What are your achievements in this industry?
My journey has been recognized through several national and international accolades, reflecting the impact of my work in education and career coaching. I have been honored with awards such as Inspiring Coach of the Year, Rashtriya Shikshak Gaurav Samman, Women Leadership Award, Bharat Icon Award for Social Impact, and the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Award for Excellence and Service, among others.
Beyond awards, my true achievements lie in the lives I have impacted. I have guided hundreds of students, professionals, and educators towards clarity and purposeful career paths. My work has extended to international platforms, conferences, masterclasses, and publications where I advocate for integrating career coaching into education systems.
I hold international certification as a Career Development Professional and am associated with global organizations, allowing me to contribute at both national and global levels.
Founding The Woman and working in leadership roles for partnerships and alliances are also milestones that have enabled me to create platforms for empowerment and collaboration.
For me, achievements are not just recognitions…they are reflections of meaningful impact and continuous contribution.

Does your work ever feel tedious to you? If so, how do you stay driven and motivated towards it?
Like any meaningful journey, there are moments of fatigue and challenges. Working closely with individuals, understanding their struggles, and constantly evolving with changing industry demands can be intense. However, I wouldn’t describe my work as tedious…it is deeply fulfilling.
Whenever I feel stretched, I reconnect with my purpose. The transformation I witness in individuals…the clarity in their eyes, the confidence in their decisions, and the direction in their lives….becomes my greatest source of motivation.
I also believe in continuous learning. Upskilling myself, exploring new methodologies, and staying updated with global trends keeps my work dynamic and engaging.
My life experiences, especially adapting through constant change during my Army life, have taught me resilience and perspective. I remind myself that every challenge is temporary and every effort contributes to a larger impact.
Ultimately, my motivation comes from knowing that I am contributing to something bigger than myself…shaping lives, influencing futures, and participating in nation-building.

What are your hobbies and specific interests other than your profession?
Beyond my professional commitments, I find joy in activities that nurture my creativity and inner balance. Writing poetry is one of my deepest passions…it allows me to express emotions, reflect on experiences, and connect with my inner self.
I also enjoy reading, which helps me expand my perspective, stay inspired, and continuously learn. Books have always been my companions through different phases of life.
Cooking is another interest that I cherish. It gives me a sense of grounding and creativity, much like building something meaningful from scratch.
Music plays an important role in my life—it helps me relax, rejuvenate, and stay emotionally connected.
Additionally, I consciously invest time in upskilling and self-development. Learning new skills, exploring new ideas, and evolving as an individual is something I deeply value.
These interests not only bring me joy but also help me stay balanced, creative, and energized in my professional journey.

You have achieved so much in life, any specific advice you’d like to share with our readers to grow in life.
Growth begins with self-awareness. Take the time to understand who you are…your strengths, interests, and values. When your actions align with your authentic self, success becomes more meaningful and sustainable.
Secondly, don’t wait for the “perfect time.” There is no perfect moment…there is only the decision to begin. Start where you are, with what you have. Progress comes from action, not perfection.
Be open to learning and unlearning. The world is evolving rapidly, and adaptability is the key to staying relevant. Invest in your skills, your mindset, and your personal growth consistently.
Most importantly, choose purpose over pressure. Don’t follow paths just because they are popular—choose what resonates with you and where you can create impact.
And finally, remember that success is not just about personal achievements—it is about contribution. When you grow, ensure that you uplift others along the way.
A purposeful life is not measured by what you gain, but by the difference you make.
