Skechers was found 28 years back in 1992 by Robert Greenberg and Michael Greenberg who happens to be the president of the company. It is currently the third-largest athletic brand in the United States, having its headquarter in Manhattan Beach, California. Earlier, Skechers manufactured utility-styled boots and skate shoes which later specialized into athletic and casual shoes for each age group. It also retails watches, eyewear, scrubs, and bags.
Skechers has advertised with various celebutantes and athletes, like Camila Cabello, Tony Romo, Howie Long, David Ortiz, Ringo Star and many more. It has also sponsored a few movies, Hydee and the Hytops: The Movie in 2012 and Twinkle Toes Lights Up New York in 2016 amongst a few of them. On the 1st of March in 2019, Skechers originated a print and digital comparative promotion drive named “Just Blew It” to highlight the Zion Williamson’s failed shoe episode with competing Nike.
Skechers also runs a foundation since 2010 wherewith the collaboration of Friendship Foundation, in which it holds an annual walk to raise funds for students with special needs. It is a non-profit organization.
Skechers has a total revenue of about 522 crores USD with more than 3000 company-owned and third-party-owned stores in 170+ countries and territories, providing employment to around 12.6 thousand individuals as of 2019 reports. It also markets its products via e-commerce websites. Skechers is traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol SKX.
Skechers’ trademark, “Innovate to Elevate” has a lot to do with its gradual increment in the slope of being called as one of the most popular fashion brands.
