Could you tell us about yourself and your work?
My name is Renu Lalwani, I am a wife, mother, and a homemaker turned entrepreneur based out of Chennai. As an ardent believer of the old adage, “An idle mind is a devil’s workshop”, I always strive to be productive and resourceful.
I commenced this business “AlanKRit” in the year 2016, that channelizes my passion and love for producing, designing, and delivering decorative products to beautify yourself and your homes. AlanKRit’s journey started off from avoiding boredom to being a sensational business that caters to a wide range of home décor requirements and personal fashion choices.
After quickly identifying the rising demand of AlanKRit’s customers and the upcoming market trends, I chose to focus on only one product niche, specializing exclusively in handcrafted bags. AlanKRit is not just any business, it is a lifestyle journey of mine, showcasing the “story” of a homemaker turned entrepreneur, who faces all challenges gracefully with a smile on my face.
How you and your service is helping society?
Shift from Wide-Range Products to Eco-Friendly Handmade Bags: AlanKRit has always adapted to the current market trends and has placed utmost importance on customer reviews. As a small business, we are very particular in providing Handmade bags, that are not just eco-friendly, but also a testament of sustainable fashion.
Promotion of Handmade Industry: As an entrepreneur who is deeply passionate of designing creative products, my business involves generating income and employment in the Handmade industry.
What is the USP of your work?
Delivering Superior Quality Sustainable Handmade Bags: As a woman entrepreneur who aims to deliver quality handmade bags, I personally handpick the finest materials and threads that should be used in producing premium quality handmade bags. Each bag produced by AlanKRit is eco-friendly, as all materials are naturally picked, hand-stitched and delivered, without harming the
environment. Above all, they are light weight and do not give stress to the shoulder muscle even after stuffing them full.
Treatment of Every Customer as Part of AlanKRit Family: Every customer of AlanKRit Handbags not just experiences true luxury by imbibing sustainable fashion in their lifestyle, but also forms a part of AlanKRit family that is united with the usage of AlanKRit products. Starting AlanKRit as a small business, and having spent more than 7 years in the market, maintaining Customer Relationships and their reviews of AlanKRit, is a driving force to continue working and delivering the finest products. Mission: We at AlanKRit are solely dedicated towards providing sustainable handmade products to our valued AlanKRit family, which is a status symbol product at an affordable price. We value our customers and strive to provide a swift and comfortable experience to each of them.
What are your achievements in this industry?
One of the Leading Small Businesses in the Handmade Industry: As part of our personal achievement, We, at AlanKRit, started the business from scratch as a part-time venture, has now become one of the leading small businesses creating awareness for sustainable fashion at an affordable price.
Successful Brand Endorsements: Several Products of AlanKRit are not only endorsed by many famous fashion stylists and bloggers, but they are personally used by them in their day-to-day life, which is a key indicator of our products speaking for itself.
One of our recent biggest achievements is providing our Handmade products to the team of Manish Malhotra, as part of their accessory collection for the Movie “Rocky and Rani I Prem Kahaani”, which was carried by Actress Shabana Azmi, in the said movie.
Does your work ever feel tedious to you? If so, how do you stay driven and motivated towards it?
As they say- “When you love your work, every day feels like a holiday”. While I enjoy the creative side to my business, wherein I design my bags with different types of fabrics, along with dealing with different customers and their queries, the administrative side of matters can get repetitive sometimes. I channelize these administrative demands of the business, by focusing on my personal core contribution to the business, which is that of creating several designs and developing the traditional outlook in a contemporary style. This ensures that I remain dedicated and committed to my business and its values.
What are your hobbies and specific interests other than your profession?
Apart from being a homemaker-turned-entrepreneur, I am deeply passionate about cooking different types of cuisines for my family. I develop my cooking habits by regularly reading several cooking books and am always open to going to different restaurants that serve several types of cuisines. Something about being able to create as meaningful and integral as food is deeply inspiring to me. Moreover, I am very religious in nature, I engage myself deeply in being committed and connected to my beliefs. My religious interests keep me happy and motivated in my personal and professional life.
You have achieved so much in life, any specific advice you’d like to share with our readers to grow in life?
One, it is never too late. There is never the right time or the right way. My advice to every entrepreneur starting a venture is to identify your own strengths and channelize those. Each business requires a level of relentless patience, hard work and a never-give-up-attitude. These attributes can solely be inculcated if you love your work and stay true to yourself.
Furthermore, to every woman homemaker turned entrepreneur, balancing both personal and professional commitments will be a hassle, so make sure that you are able to provide equitable time to both segments!
