- Could you introduce us to yourself and brief us about your business?
I am Dr. Phindarilang Chyne. I am the founder and director of Floss Multispeciality Dental Clinic, based in Shillong. I graduated from Rajiv Gandhi College of Dental Sciences, Bangalore. Following my passion for Dentistry, I went on to attain a Post-graduation degree in Esthetic Dentistry from Columbia University College of Dental Medicine, New York.
- What is the role of your family in your achievements?
My family has always been very supportive of me. They taught me to start small in business and eventually grow from it. The most important of all is their advice of being humble always. That’s something I live by.
- What is your ultimate aim as a doctor? How can you create a new path in your profession?
In my 11 years of career in Dentistry so far, I’ve had the opportunity to meet many people and treat thousands of patients. All through this journey, my ultimate aim has been and continues to be, to bring about a difference in the world and help bring smiles & happiness in my patient’s lives.
To be able to live this dream, I decided to start my own private practice. Floss Multispeciality Dental Clinic ensures effective treatment to every patient.
- What was the one thing that had first persuaded you to enter into the field of Dentistry?
The impact that this service has on patients is what persuaded me to follow Dentistry as a career. There are many ways to bring about a difference in the world, I chose the field of Dentistry to make the world a happy place.
- With such cut-throat competition in the industry, what is it that makes the services you offer exceptional?
Loyalty to our patients. This is what makes Floss stand out.

- Your achievements in this industry are more than impressive. Would you like to highlight some of your achievements?
I have been honored with some of India’s most prominent dental awards. In 2018, I was awarded the “Best Dental Surgeon Award”. For its uniqueness in dental services, Floss has bagged the award for the “Best Multi-disciplinary Dental Hospital in Shillong”.
- Does your work ever feel unexciting to you? If so, how do you stay driven and motivated towards it?
I believe it’s not always easy to stay driven even if one loves what they do. There’s a fine line between working hard and working too much. On days when I get overwhelmed, I try to focus on my goals. Goals give you a direction to focus on one that’s measurable and has an endpoint. This helps me to keep going.
And also, choose goals that interest you. It’s easier to stay motivated if one’s working towards something that they genuinely want to do or achieve, rather than wasting their energy in something that others expect them to do.
- You have achieved so much in life. What would you like to advise the newbies in the industry?
Aim as high as you can and strive hard to achieve that aim. But also remember that there is absolutely no shame in aiming high and not reaching the goal.
Also try to maintain work-life balance, something that we value so highly in dentistry. One should always try and push their limits, but it’s okay to take a step back every now and again and focus on other areas of life.
In the beginning of your career, you’ll have buckets of time when compared to the later years and the opportunity to learn will never be greater than in the first few years of your career.
As long as you aim high and do your best to achieve your goals, there’s nothing that can stop you from reaching heights.
