Interviewed by The Success Today – A Digital Webzine
Could you tell us about yourself and your work?
I am a certified parenting coach, and a soft skills and communication trainer. I aim at helping parents have a mindful journey. A smooth journey for parents where in they practice the gentle parenting approach. We’ve all been in this rat race of raising our children the best. So here I am, guiding parents towards mindful parenting. I am also working towards shaping children in what is regarded as the most important skill for life, which is soft skills and communication skills.
It’s making sure that parents and children have the best bond with each other. So may it be toddlers, mid-schoolers or adolescents, my aim is to create a healthy relationship between parents and children, because I think if this relationship is in place, a lot of other things in life will surely be in place.
How you and your service is helping society?
The services that I provide will contribute towards a better tomorrow since it includes a healthy bond between parents and children. A lot of times this bond is really stressful and that is why children do not come to their parents for a lot of important things in life. Now, this rift between the parents and children also puts the child’s future at stake. So anytime in the future when the child is stuck, the child is never going to come back to his parents because of the strenuous relations they’ve had. So I plan to work towards removing this obstacle and the other thing as I said I work towards is creating polished individuals, helping shape healthy and meaningful individuals by giving them the correct knowledge of soft skills and communication skills. Even if you have all the talent that you need, if you cannot communicate it in an effective manner, if you cannot put it up in the right way, if you do not have the correct soft skills in today’s times you are going to fail. So I think having the correct set of soft skills is the need of the hour and that is what I guide children and adults towards.
What is the USP of your work?
The USP of my work is that people so conveniently assume that parenting is a skill that they already know of, that no one really pays attention to help people develop or improve on this skill. However, I always tell parents in all my sessions, in all my one on ones, that parenting is a learnable skill. You can learn how to parent. So if you have conceived, it doesn’t automatically mean that you’re doing great as a parent. You might need help, you might need advice, and it is completely okay to seek for it. So this is what I help parents and children towards, and there are so many soft skills and communication trainers for Corporates, for MNCs, but I’ve hardly seen anyone train children towards these skills. So this is what I am working on.
What are your Vision and Mission?
My vision is to help parents raise happy, healthy and hearty children.
My mission is to help at least one lakh mothers and children gain the effective communication skills that they need.
What are your Achievements in this Industry?
My achievements include the endless opportunities that I have received to conduct workshops at the Rotary organizations at various hospitals and paediatric units in Rajkot. I also have several one on one sessions that I’ve taken for parents and for children to my credit. I would have taken one on one with hundreds of parents and guided them towards mindful and gentle parenting.
I’ve taken group sessions for kids, solo kid sessions for public speaking, for financial literacy etc. I take mother-toddler programs during the major festivals of our region concerning to creating awareness on those topics. So all these have done wonders for me. And people now know me by my instagram handle, handsonmomsoniya.
Does your work ever feel tedious to you? If yes, how do you stay driven and motivated?
So, like it’s always said that if you love what you do, you’re not going to feel even for one day in your life that you are working. I love what I do and I do it from the bottom of my heart. So whenever I am into my work, I feel that enormous amount of energy in me and that urge and that desire in me to give my very best every time. I keep looking for opportunities to counsel a parent or to help a child. I have that innate energy in me. I think that is what keeps me going because I love what I do. I think that’s the whole point. I don’t really have to look for external sources of motivation to keep me going.
What are your hobbies and interests other than this?
Apart from the work that I do, I am a trained classical dancer. So dance and aerobics are really close to me and who wants to miss the chance to travel? So traveling is very dear to me since I feel experience is the best teacher. The more you travel, the more you learn. So these are various things that I have loved to do. Apart from this, I am always looking for courses and programs to up my game. It’s so important to be a constant learner to keep up with the pace of this world.
You have achieved so much in life, any specific advice you’d like to share with our readers to grow in life?
My advice to all the readers would be rather than always complaining about no time in life to grow or to add value to what you do, take the step, plunge into it and you will find time for yourself and love what you do. You’ll be doing wonders in your field. The last piece of advice that I would want to give to all my readers is that never shy away from seeking for help, whatever it may be. If you have the courage to seek for help, you will grow multiple times.
