Interviewed by The Success Today – A Digital Webzine
Could you tell us about yourself and your work?
I have worked in the corporate sector for 2 decades now and I have always been on the lookout for beautiful pieces of clothes and jewellery but at a pocket-friendly cost., I started UTPALA Designs as an experiment with my savings in 2016 and grew it into a passionate business. UTPALA Designs is actually a platform to sell designs originally created by weavers and artisans.
How you and your service is helping society?
We source our products from weavers and artisans directly from all over India, so thereby eliminating the middle person and reaching the customers. So that way we bring a smile to every creator who is making these sarees and materials and every customer because it is rightly priced and the product is quality checked.
What is the USP of your work?
The USP of my work is its uniqueness. For someone new to handloom, they appear similar but each piece is different in its own way. They are all created by our different weavers which makes every piece look more appealing.
What are your Vision and Mission?
Our vision is to make youngsters fall in love with the sari. And our mission is to reach out to as many as possible Indian wearers across the globe. For sari wearing.
What are your achievements in this industry?
We have more than 10,000 happy customers who have purchased from us, and they are all very happy with the products that they have received in terms of quality and quantity whenever they have bought from us.
Does your work ever feel tedious to you? If so, how do you stay driven and motivated toward it?
As a solo entrepreneur? Yes. Sometimes it becomes tedious because I handle all the nuances myself. But then it is the mission of creating a global, sari-wearing community that keeps me going.
What are your hobbies and specific interests other than your profession?
I love music and gardening. In my free time, I play Veena and I tend to my plants and I have a pet which keeps me accompanied all through the day driving my boredom away.
You have achieved so much in life, any specific advice you’d like to share with our readers to grow in life?
One major thing would be, to go with your gut instinct. Do not follow the crowd because then you’ll lose your uniqueness. So do what you really believe in and things would eventually fall in place.
